The survcoin (short for "survival coin") is a currency designed to reward the efforts we make to reduce our carbon footprint. The aim of the survcoin project is to stimulate and accelerate these efforts by quantifying and rewarding them. It is based on emerging technologies that allow citizens to create decentralised contractual and monetary tools that they can use to define their own finality. The decarbonation currencies earned by users can be exchanged with partner merchants for products and services, so that an ecosystem of transactions contributing to decarbonation emerges.
About us
Societal impact company
History
The survcoin was deployed for the first time in 2018 as part of a pilot project in Luxembourg led by the association Climate Action Blockchain, created in August 2017 to explore the potential of blockchain for climate action. A first pilot was conducted with the shared bike service Vël'OK Regional, which serves the South-West of Luxembourg.
In 2022 Survcoin was incorporated as a Societal Impact Company (S.I.S.) and is currently deploying a pilot project to stimulate soft mobility with the municipality of Differdange, called MobiDiff.
Mission
Survcoin S.A.-S.I.S.' mission is to contribute to the reduction of our greenhouse gas emissions using alternative currencies dedicated to climate action, helping people become aware of their carbon footprint and lastingly change their habits.

Emulation
The survcoin, deployed mostly in the context of smartphone applications, gives a playful dimension ("gamification") to our efforts to reduce our footprint by appealing to peer-to-peer emulation. Defined as a reward, it acts as a carrot rather than a stick in the face of the difficulties we face in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, thus preparing the ground for the unavoidable future regulatory constraints.
In order to take advantage of the full potential of such a solution, a systematic use of gamification is foreseen, in the form of quizzes, competitions, raffles, campaigns, individual and collective challenges, etc., in order to offer users a range of strong and regularly renewed incentives for soft mobility.
